This group was set up by WSCP several years ago, using funding from the Active @ 60 Campaign. It meets between 10.00 and 12.00 on the second Wednesday of each month at Margaret House in Uckfield. The pictures shown are of a small exhibition set up by the Group at Margaret House in May of this year.
As you may be able to see, the skills within the group are wide, and we do stress that the natter is as important as the art! It is a small group, and we have several members who live at Margaret House, and others from other parts of Uckfield and surrounding areas. Some members are very talented, and the rest of us try our best!
We do not provide art lessons, but Jean, our talented Group Leader, brings in a new challenge every month. However, if any of us wish to continue with a project started at a previous meeting, or to do our own thing, that is what we do!
We would be happy to have new folk join our group, and if you would like to know more, please phone Jean on 01825 767734 or Carol on 01825 762934.

Win a £250 voucher! Tell us your housing plans as you get older and help us plan for East Sussex
We know that people make different decisions about where they want to live as they get older. Some people want to stay living in the same place; others will look to move to more manageable homes; and some will feel that older people’s specialist accommodation best suits their needs.
We at the County Council would like to know: What are your plans?
If you live in East Sussex and are starting to think about where you want to live as you age, we’d really love to hear from you. We want to hear from home owners and renters, and people living in all types of properties. If you’ve already moved, we’d also really like to hear about your reasons for moving.
This is your chance to influence:
* housing support services for older people;
* the sort of accommodation on offer to older people;
* the amount of accommodation that is built; and
* where it is built.
The survey closes on 19 March. You can complete it online here: www.eastsussex.gov.uk/housingneeds
If you would like to be posted a copy of the survey please contact us:
Email: consultation.ASC@eastsussex.gov.uk Phone: 01273 481 565
Deadline for responses: 5 September 2016
Wealden District Council is conducting a survey of residents living in Council-owned retirement living courts to find out the level of confidence in using the internet, what equipment if any they own, what they are using the internet for, if they would attend training at the court in which they live or elsewhere, what they would want training on, and how frequent any training would be.
Saturday October 1st is officially Older People’s Day – an International Day created to recognise and celebrate the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society. Last year seniors’ forums, the voluntary sector, community groups and other statutory organisations put together a programme of events to mark Older People’s Day 2015. Across East Sussex, events took place throughout September and October, providing a wide variety of fun activities and information. Plans are in hand for a similar programme this year and those receiving the newsletter by post or email will receive a copy of this year’s booklet listing all the events that will be taking place. The booklet can be found here:
We are hosting Wealden’s Older People’s Day in Hailsham this year. It will be held in Hailsham Civic Community Hall which is just behind Wealden District Council offices between 10am and 12.30pm. WSCP is hosting this event in partnership with Hailsham Leisure Centre. There will be a number of free activities in the Leisure centre and special offers for anyone who attends.
The event is completely free and there will be a number of information stands and some free offers. Drinks and cake will be provided free throughout the morning. Please do come along and support the event.
At the time of writing this event is still being worked on so please keep an eye on our website. If you know of any clubs or societies that offer something for older people in Hailsham or its environs who might like to have a stand then please let Jane know. There is no cost for stand holders. Jane’s phone number is 01892 655050.
